This document serves as the privacy policy for the TripDoc iOS app and the tripdoc.com website.
What and how data is collected
If you don’t create an account on tripdoc.com, we collect:
- anonymous statistics regarding usage of app and website features to help inform future improvements.
If you create an account on tripdoc.com, our server stores:
- your email address and your hashed password: Email addresses are only used for logging in, password resets, and sending notifications that you request.
- * your list of guides, places, and photos, including your notes (public and private) and various attributes associated with them, such as favorite and visited flags and which users have access to your shared guides.
How data is used
We use cookies on our website and tokens in the app to keep you logged in.
Our server logs basic technical information, such as your IP address, the URL you requested, the time you requested it, etc.
We use the information we collect to operate and improve and protect our website, apps, and customer support.
We do not share information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to accomplish TripDoc’s functionality and, in doing so, strictly limit the data we share.
We may disclose your information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.
In the future, we may sell to, buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses. In such transactions, user information may be among the transferred assets.

Analytics
TripDoc does not show ads or utilize any ad technologies.
TripDoc collects minimal anonymous analytics, such as what percentage of users use a particular feature. This data is collected to help guide improvements to the app.
Data retention
You may access or change your information or delete your account from the TripDoc iOS app.
Deleted information may be kept in backups for up to 6 months. Backups are encrypted and only accessed if needed for disaster recovery.
TripDoc may delete your information at any time and for any reason, such as technical needs, legal concerns, abuse prevention, removal of idle accounts, data loss, or any other reason.
Data security
We implement numerous security measures to secure and protect the data we transmit and store. All communication between the app and the website uses industry-standard encryption. Your password is hashed, not stored, using industry-standard methods. Access to our infrastructure (servers, databases, accounts, etc.) are restricted to the minimal set of persons who need access for their job function.
